Dorothea Taylor Bogert
Mayor, Seat 2
Dorothea Taylor Bogert is the Broker-Owner of the Auburndale based real estate company, FL Realty and has worked in real estate since 1998. Mayor Bogert is a native Floridian and a graduate of Auburndale High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Florida State University. In the past, she has worked at FSU, the Florida House of Representatives and was an adjunct professor of ethics at the now Polk State College. Mayor Bogert currently serves on the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of Auburndale and has served on the Alpha Delta Pi House Corporation Board of Directors at UCF since 2001. She serves as the immediate past president of the Ridge League of Cities and is heavily involved with the Florida League of Cities by serving on multiple boards, including the FLC Advocacy committee, the FLC Board of Directors as a District Director, and the FLC Home Rule Hero Award committee. She is also a member of the Local Voices United Ambassador program. Along with these positions, she serves as the Vice Chair of the Legislative Policy: Land Use & Economic Development committee.
Keith Cowie
Vice Mayor, Seat 1
Keith A. Cowie is a District Manager for South Eastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. Vice Mayor Cowie has worked for Winn-Dixie since 1989. He grew up in the state of Florida and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1992. He has an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Polk State College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the same institution. From 2008 to 2015, Vice Mayor Cowie served as a City Commissioner and during that time he served as Mayor in both 2011 and 2014. His current term as Commissioner began in January of 2018. He is also an Eagle Scout from Auburndale Troop 115 and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Auburndale Rotary Club. He and his wife, Tabatha, have been married since 2002 and they have two children. Vice Mayor Cowie enjoys boating, theme parks and spending time with his family.
Alex Cam
Commissioner, Seat 5
Alex Cam is the Vice-President of Cam’s Catering Company, Inc. He’s a native Floridian and a graduate of Auburndale High School. He received his Associate’s degree from Polk State College. Commissioner Cam serves on the Board of Directors for the Auburndale Rotary Club, and serves on the Board of Directors for The Greater Auburndale Chamber of Commerce; where he also served as its President from 2020-2023. Additionally, Commissioner Cam previously served on the City of Auburndale’s Police Officer’s Pension Board. He was elected to the Auburndale City Commission in 2023. Commissioner Cam is married to his wife, Brittany, and enjoys playing soccer and spending time with family.
Jordan Helms
Commissioner, Seat 4
Jordan Helms is a lifelong resident of the Auburndale area and a graduate of Auburndale High School. He is a member of Berkley Chapel and serves as a drummer in the worship ministry. He has spent the last 16 years working in the Food & Beverage Manufacturing Industry, including 9 years at the Coca-Cola Main Street facility here in town. Most of that time was spent as a project & program manager, but currently he is working in technical sales for multiple industries. Jordan married his high school sweetheart Ashley in 2005 and they have two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, and all things Gator Football.
Bill Sterling
Commissioner, Seat 3
Bill Sterling was first elected to the Auburndale City Commission in 1995 and was subsequently re-elected, serving as mayor in 2001. He stepped down that year because of the charter provision limiting commissioners to two consecutive terms, but he won a different commission seat a year later and served two additional terms, again as mayor in 2009. Prior to serving on the City Commission, Commissioner Sterling was a founding board member of the Community Redevelopment Agency. Sterling also served twice on Auburndale’s Community Development Agency board of directors. He and his wife, Jo, have been married since 1975 and have a daughter.
